Lift the car and place it on jack-stands properly as the car is going to be shaken slightly during the checking and replacement of the mounts. Press on the extension housing of the transmission and check the range of motion to this action, then, pulling down on the extension housing and figuring out the motion range to this type of action. If the extension housing can be pushed up a farther distance than it can be pulled down, it means that the rubber is long molded and the mount sunk to the lowest point. Furthermore, if the rubber part of the mount is disconnected from the metal plate when one shakes it upwards, the mount must be replaced. The front exhaust tube needs to be disconnected, but before that, it has to be ensured that the connector of the catalytic converter to the body is properly made. One has to place a jack and put a block of wood between this jack and the transmission to prevent the marks left by the jack. Subsequently, the two through bolts and washers that attach the mount to the crossmember have to be loosened and disconnected, then the four bolts and washers for the crossmember-BODY connection should be undone, and finally the crossmember can be taken off. Lastly, two bolts that hold the mount on the transmission must be undone, and the mount has to be removed, though the instructions would be based on the removal process.

Engine mounts should be periodically inspected for hardening or cracking of the rubber, or separation of the rubber from the metal backing. To replace the front mounts, loosen the nuts and bolts retaining them to the engine mounting bracket and suspension crossmember on both sides of the engine. Take the weight of the engine off the mounts by placing a jack and wooden block under the oil pan, carefully raising the engine enough to allow removal of the mounts. If the old mounts are to be reused, mark them clearly to ensure they are installed right side up on the same side as before. Remove the nuts and bolts retaining the mounts and take them out, noting the correct installed position. Installation follows the reverse of the removal procedure.
