Before starting work, remove and keep the top cover over the engine and the lower cover that keeps water from hitting the motor. Drain the cooling system while keeping and reusing good-quality coolant. Remove the air filter housing and related ducts. Pull out the reservoir tank and all attached hoses connected to the radiator. Undo both of the radiator's upper and lower hoses. Cut off the transmission oil cooler tubes connecting to the radiator when possible. Take off the base that holds the refrigerant line so it can be pushed out of the way. Take off the cooling fan assembly on cars that run two electric fans. First take apart the cooling fan and clutch from a vehicle with a clutch type fan, following instructions for removing the shroud part closest to the ground. Rotate these mounting pieces on top of the radiator support 90 degrees in the opposite direction to remove them. Take out the condenser air conditioner mounting bolts from the radiator support's openings. Start by pulling the condenser upward till its mounting tabs let go of the radiator. Carry the radiator towards the engine, lift gently from the engine bay while watching you don't crash any fins, drip coolant, or scrape the car's paint. Before you take the radiator out, look at its lower mounting bushings to see if they are cracked, worn, or have damaged surfaces - buy replacements when needed. Look for leaks and damage when you take the radiator out. Have experts fix it if there are problems. Wash off all bugs and dirt from the radiator front using a garden hose. Then clear out more stubborn pieces with compressed air and a gentle brush, being careful not to curve the radiator cooling fins. Check radiator mounts for wear and clear away anything stuck to them before putting back the radiator in place. Installation is the reverse of removal. Add a solution consisting of antifreeze mixed correctly with water to your engine's cooling system. Turn on the engine and check for leaks, wait until normal engine temperature, then look at the coolant again and add more if necessary.
