In case of coil springs, it is always recommended to replace them in pairs on the same axle, and new suspension securing nuts have to be used while re-assembling. Start with chocking the front wheels, raising the rear of the vehicle off the ground using jack and supporting it on stands and on should remove the corresponding rear road wheel. Proceed to use a trolley jack to lift the rear trailing arm so that the shock absorber is slightly compressed. Relieve the tension of the shock absorber lower mounting bolt retaining nut and remove the bolt and washer then remove the lower part of the shock absorber from the trailing arm. Gradually release the lower end of the trailing arm that is placed on the trolley jack and then remove the upper mounting rubber of the coil spring together with the coil spring that was located from under the rear part of the vehicle. It may be required to disconnect the spring lower rubber mounting from the trailing arm. For refitting insert the coil spring back into position between the underbody and the trailing arm, it is to be ensured that both the upper and lower rubber mountings are fitted. Lift the trolley jack slowly, then place the new or re-used shock absorber lower mounting into position onto the trailing arm, then put the lower mounting bolt back in and tighten only the nut moderately. Remove and refit the rear roadwheel, alight the vehicle off the stands, and further-tighten the wheel nuts to its specified torque wrench. With the vehicle situated on the wheels, at a standard ride height, further tighten the nut of the lower end of the shock absorber mounting bolt to the specified torque value.
