How to replace the shift cable on the 2012 Nissan Sentra?

Disconnect the shift interlock cable from the interlock rod by pressing in on the cable tangs and sliding the cable away from the shifter assembly, followed by removing the cable from the shifter assembly bracket. Proceed to remove the lower steering column trim panel and the steering column covers. At the lock cylinder, slide the lock plate away from the cable and pull the cable from the lock cylinder, then remove the cable from the vehicle. For installation, reverse the removal steps, ensuring the shift lever is in the Park position and turning the ignition switch to ACC or ON while installing the lock plate and cable into the ignition switch, then turn the ignition switch to LOCK after installation. Note that adjustment of the shift interlock cable is not possible; if the key cannot be removed when in Park, check the shift cable adjustment.
