Adjustments are not available for the shift cables; if the vehicle does not shift properly, check for bent brackets and verify the cables are correctly installed in the brackets and on the levers. Begin by raising the vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. The shifter assembly and cables are one unit and cannot be replaced separately. Next, remove the battery, followed by the air filter housing and ducts to access the top of the transaxle. Detach the shift and select cables from the shift lever on the transaxle by carefully prying the cable ends away from the levers, then place the shifter in Neutral. Proceed to remove the center console and the bolts attaching the shifter assembly to the vehicle. Remove the front exhaust, middle muffler, and heat shield from under the center of the vehicle to allow access to the shift cables. After that, remove the cable support bracket and take out the shift and select cables from the bracket. Finally, remove the shifter and shift cables from the vehicle as an assembly from under the vehicle, and installation is the reverse of removal.
