2015 Nissan Juke Crankshaft Seal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the crankshaft seal on the 2015 Nissan Juke?
A: This is the procedure followed to remove timing chain cover oil seal; first, remove the crankshaft pulley. Gently Pry up the oil seal with large flat-bladed screw driver without scratching the crank-shafts or the timing cover. Check for any burr or raised edges that may have cut the seal and polish them, clean the seal housing. Clean fresh oil to the lips of the new seal so that they face inward and gently ensconce the seal without harming it in any way. Insert the seal and use a hammer to tap the seal until it is completely nestled against the timing chain cover; wash off any traces of oil before refitting the crankshaft pulley. As for the flywheel oil seal, first of all, you remove the flywheel and carefully put the old blind into the position when prying out the right-hand cover using screw or hook instrument, not damaging the crankshaft surface. Otherwise, drill a hole on the seal, thread a self-tapping screw inside, and then use grips to pull out the screw, avoiding to drill on any other material but the seal. As a final step clean the seal housing and trim any sharp edges or points as the seal will ride over these areas. After that, it is necessary to lubricate the lips of the new seal and the crankshaft shoulder using clean oil, then to critically pull the sealing lip over the crankshaft shoulder and tightly press the seal into its pocket. Even if the sealer is protruding, place a liquid gasket around the rim and hit the sealer in place until it blends with the block in the cylinder, removing the additional sealant. Last of all, clean off all the oil or the sealant and then fit the flywheel as it was before.
