Nissan 300ZX Tie Rod End

The Tie Rod End of Nissan 300ZX connects the steering rack to the steering knuckle so that wheels have stability and accuracy on driver input. Each Tie Rod End is located at the outer end of a tie rod assembly. Each Tie Rod End is coupled to the rack gear or to a center link depending on whether it is fitted for a rack and pinion or conventional steering layout. This effectively transforms linear motion into pivoting action that turns the front wheels of Nissan 300ZX. An internal part of the linkage threads into the Tie Rod End, allowing length to be adjusted during wheel alignment and a ball and socket within the Tie Rod End enables articulation as the suspension angle changes. The component transmits steering force in a secure manner to ensure consistent tracking, responsive cornering, and proper tire wear of the Nissan 300ZX. The Nissan 300ZX Tie Rod End, routinely inspected for play or wear, maintains the original feel of the car while enhancing predictable handling.

Nissan 300ZX Tie Rod End Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the tie rod end on Nissan 300ZX?
    A:
Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then remove the splash shield retaining bolts and take off the shield. Next, remove the cotter pin and nut that secure the tie rod to the steering knuckle, and use an appropriate separating tool to detach the tie rod from the steering knuckle. After that, remove the clamp that secures the rubber boot to the Rack And Pinion, and use paint to mark the location of the tie rod locknut to ensure proper toe-in during reinstallation. Loosen the tie rod locknut one-quarter turn and remove the tie rod by turning it counterclockwise. Remove the rubber O-ring from the small end of the boot with a small screwdriver, and disconnect the breather hose from the boot by removing the clamp. Slide the boot off the rack and pinion unit, ensuring that when installing the new boot, the breather nipple faces upward. Use a new O-ring on the small end of the boot, then install the tie rod end, ensuring that if the locknut was only loosened one-quarter turn, the toe-in will be close when the tie rod is brought up to the locknut. Secure the tie rod to the steering knuckle with the nut and cotter pin, reinstall the splash shield, remove the jackstands, and lower the vehicle. Finally, have the toe-in set by a Nissan dealer or another front-end specialist.
