The transmission must be removed from the vehicle for this procedure. Carefully pry the old Crankshaft Seal out of the block with a seal removal tool or screwdriver, ensuring to do so gently to avoid damaging the crankshaft, as any damage may cause the new seal to leak. Apply multi-purpose grease to the crankshaft seal journal and the lip of the new seal. It is preferable to use a seal installation tool to press the new seal into place, taking care to work it onto the seal journal of the crankshaft without rushing, as the lip is stiff and can be damaged. Install the seal squarely and only until it is flush with the back of the block, no further. The remaining steps involve reversing the removal process.
