Only one Xenon high-and-low beam bulb exists in 2006 and all following Nissan Pathfinder models. HID (High Intensity Discharge) bulbs generate triple the light output of standard halogen bulbs while using reduced energy and maintaining a lifespan equal to ten times their standard counterparts. The system runs with an alternating current to ignite its xenon gas material exactly like vapor-filled streetlights although it needs a ballast module to convert power from the battery into the required alternating current. An HID bulb reaches operational temperature within 10 to 15 seconds dependent on the function of an igniter which controls the electrode voltage. To change bulbs customers must begin by removing the wheel lug nuts from the relevant wheel position then safely raise their vehicle before taking off both the wheel and the front section of the wheel well splash shield. Turn off the headlight switch then disconnect the battery terminal while lowering all windows before starting installation.
