Because a new ignition ignition lock cylinder comes with new ignition keys that must be programmed with a factory scan tool, it is not recommended to attempt replacing the ignition ignition lock cylinder assembly at home. Begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Next, remove the steering column covers and the
Instrument Cluster/trim panel assembly. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch by depressing the release tab and pulling off the connector. Remove the ignition switch mounting screws and take the switch out of the ignition lock cylinder housing. When installing the new ignition switch, ensure that the T-shaped hole in the switch aligns with the T-shaped protrusion on the ignition ignition lock cylinder assembly. Rotate the ignition switch as necessary to align the mounting screw holes, then install and securely tighten the mounting screws. The installation process is the reverse of removal. Finally, rotate the ignition key through all positions to ensure it operates smoothly and verify that the engine starts when the key is turned to START.
