The air filter is located inside the air filter housing on the left side of the engine compartment. To remove it, release the spring clips securing the housing halves, separate them, and take out the air filter element. Inspect the outer surface of the filter; if dirty, replace it, but if only moderately dusty, it can be cleaned with compressed air from the back to the front. Since it is a pleated paper type filter, it cannot be washed or oiled, and if it cannot be cleaned satisfactorily, it should be discarded and replaced. While the cover is off, avoid dropping anything into the housing, and never drive the vehicle with the air cleaner removed to prevent excessive engine wear and potential fire hazards. After cleaning, wipe out the inside of the housing, place the new filter in ensuring it seats properly, then reassemble the housing halves and snap the clips into place.
