To adjust the shift cable, the first step involved is to; Remove the air filter housing. Next, engage the shift lever to the "P" position and then, slowly back-off the shift cable to the manual lever locknut while making sure that the transaxle manual shift lever is in the Park position. With the manual lever still held, engage the locknut and shift the shift lever from "P" to "1" and doing it smoothly. For replacement, insert the shifter into Park and then, to access the spray, you must re-eliminate the air filter housing. Next, unscrew the cable-to-manual lever locknut, pull of the cable retaining clip, and separate from transaxle bracket. Following the above steps, pull the center console; unscrew the bracket above the cable grommet in the body of the car; and pull the grommet screws. Remove the cable end off the shifter and then pull out the said cable. Installation is done in the opposite sequence that was followed during removal while making sure that the cable is well-aligned.
