Take off the fuel hood to let pressure leave the tank. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Pull the negative battery cable. If you still have a lot of fuel left in your tank, buy a siphon kit at an auto parts shop and use it with an approved gasoline container to remove the fuel. Move the vehicle until its rear is high enough off the ground. Hold it in place with stable jackstands under the appropriate spots. Remove the fuel tank shield if equipped. Uncover the access panel in front of the fuel tank on Armada models, pull off its power connector, and disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump/fuel level sensor assembly. Unplug the hose that carries fuel from the pump to the tank, and the hose that lets air in through the EVAP system, both are easy to reach just below and inside the left rear of the vehicle. Put the fuel tank in place, loosen the fasteners that hold the retaining straps, slide off these straps, and gently lower the tank. Tightening the fuel tank strap bolts is just like reversing the removal process.
