  Q: How to test or replacement coolant temperature sending unit on Nissan Frontier?

  A: Check wiring between dash and sending unit for short circuit if overheating occurs even when engine is cold. To test sending unit, disconnect connector and attach ohmmeter from pin on top of sender to engine ground. Replace sending unit by unscrewing from engine and quickly installing replacement, using conductive sealant on threads. Make sure engine is cool before removing defective sending unit and catch coolant loss. Check coolant level after replacement part is installed.
