How to diagnose and replace the Neutral Safety Switch for the Nissan Pathfinder?

Place the shift lever in the Neutral position, unplug the electrical connector from the Neutral position switch, and, using an ohmmeter, check for continuity across the terminals of the switch. If not, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Unplug the Neutral position switch electrical connector, unscrew the switch from the transmission case, apply RTV sealant or Teflon tape to the threads of the new switch to prevent leakage, install the switch in the transmission case and tighten it securely, and plug in the electrical connector.
