The first catalytic converter is installed on the exhaust manifold and cannot be changed individually. To start disconnection, pull on the cable a part of it from the negative terminal of the battery. Chock up the rear wheels and engage the parking brake, then unscrew the lug nuts of the right front wheel. Lift the front part of the car and put it on safety stands; then, remove the right front wheel. Then, on the diagrams of how to dismantle it, remove the engine splash shields and the right inner fender splash shield, and then the drivebelt. Unplug the electrical connector of oxygen sensor and also remove the heat shield on the exhaust manifold. Take off the exhaust pipe and connect the catalytic converter, beforehand applying penetrating oil to the nuts and bolts on the exhaust manifold. Disconnect the exhaust manifold-to-
Cylinder Head nuts in the reverse order of the tightening sequence by loosening the bolts and removing the exhaust manifold brace and the exhaust manifold alongside the gasket. For installation; with the help of the scraper, clean all the dirty surfaces of the exhaust manifold and cylinder head of all gasket materials and carbons. You should now place the new exhaust manifold gasket back on the cylinder head studs and then can install the manifold before threading the nuts in place. Torque the nuts to the required number in the correct pattern such that they are tightened twice to the maximum pressure. Perform the reverse of the removal process while applying ASL to the studs of the exhaust pipe; reconnect the battery with carrying out the re-learn processes.
