To remove shift cable, first engage the park, and then you have to pull the shift cable from the shifter pivot towards the bracket that connects to the shifter assembly. Next, you need to disconnect the battery, releasing the battery tray and the system of mounting bolts and a bracket. Then pull it out to release the cable on the shift lever and bracket of the transaxle then unbolt the air filter housing. Take out the vehicle onto the jackstands and strengthen it and unbolt the grommet from the cable support bracket and the floorpan and let of the cable. For installation reverse the above process; ensure that grommet sit well in the floorpan and alter the position of the cable as a result. For adjustment, again: disconnect battery and battery tray and air filter housing, place the shift lever in 'P,' slack then in shift cable-to-manual lever locknut, then put the transaxle manual shift lever all the way to Park. With the manual lever in position, tighten the locknut after that shift the shift lever from "P" to "1" to ascertain the ease of shifting and having the lighted area matches with the shift lever position. Last but not least, check that the Engine can be started only in 'P' and 'N'.
