How to disassemble the cylinder head and associated components from the engine on Nissan 300ZX? Posted by Customer
    A:
Only pull out the cylinder head from the engine and next the push rods and the rocker arm shafts and the hydraulic valve lifters and the lifter guide assembly as well. After that, remove the camshaft plate cover retaining bolts and pull this cover off carefully with your fingers. Place the holding lug on the camshaft and with the help of a wrench turn the camshaft slightly and loosen the camshaft plate retaining bolt. Remove the camshaft oil seal with a small screwdriver by placing around the front part of the cylinder head Gently extract the camshaft from the front of the head by supporting it with both the hands in order to prevent damaging the cam lobes or the bearing journals. Place a valve spring compressor to compress the spring a small magnet to take out keepers from the stem, retainer, and valve spring. If the mushroomed edge of the valve tip is a problem then before removing each valve from the valve guide, it is also essential to file down this area with a small file if it is existing. Pack each of the valve stem components for each valve and label the bags properly to ensure that they are reinstalled properly.
