To remove and install the combination switch, first disconnect the battery ground cable. Next, remove the
Steering Wheel while being cautious of the collapsible steering column, and then take off the steering column cover(s). Disconnect the electrical connections from the combination switch assembly; in most models, the control switches for lighting, wipers, washers, hazards, and cruise control can be replaced without removing the combination base. To remove the combination switch base, take out the base attaching screw and turn it after pushing on it. Install the switch/combination base in the correct position, ensuring that the tab fits into the hole in the steering shaft to allow the system to return the switch to the neutral position after a turn. After that, reinstall the steering wheel and steering column cover(s), making sure to torque the steering wheel retaining nut properly. Finally, reconnect the battery cable, turn the key to the ON position, and check the system for proper operation, ensuring that the turn signals cancel after the vehicle has made a turn.
