When the transaxle shifts to the Reverse position the inhibitor switch activates both back-up lights functionality and the Neutral functionality needed to supply power to the starter in Neutral and Park positions. Vehicle support on jackstands enables the removal and installation process to begin with transaxle control cable and electrical harness detachment then screw removal from the switch after which the switch can be taken out. The installation process starts by following reverse steps of removal while adjustment requires support and lifting the vehicle to align the adjustment holes of the inhibitor switch with the switch lever through vertical positioning of the lever. Use a torque wrench to adjust the screws to 1.4-1.9 foot pounds while checking electrical measurement to make sure the vehicle engine operates only during Park or Neutral selection.
