To change the front brake discs on 1988 and later turbo models you raise the vehicle with a jack, place it on two jackstands, and remove the wheel. Subsequently, free the caliper while retaining connection with the hydraulic brake hose and secure the caliper with wire to the spring in order to hold it aside. Lift-off the dust cap from the brake disc then remove the cotter pin and dispose of it then take-off the wheel bearing locking nut cap. Remove the wheel bearing nut and washer from the spindle first and with your hand, twist the hub/brake disc part to remove from the spindle while having the outer bearing in your hand. To detach the brake disc from the hub, the brake disc should be placed face down, subsequently, the four bolts should be unscrewed. For installation, simply set the hub assembly onto the spindle, apply pressure to set the outer bearing, and put the washer and the adjuster/locking nut, while tightening this, spin the brake disc to nestle the bearings. Loosen/widen the pre-load of the wheel bearing, replace the brake caliper or its components, insert the wheel back, clear the jackstands, and finally drop the vehicle. For the rear brake discs, reposition the vehicle and make the same actions as in steps 6-9, though do not disconnect the hydraulic brake hose from the caliper. In case the brake disc is rusted one, then two bolts must be fitted into two threaded holes and then rotated to push the brake disc off the flange. The new brake disc must be slid onto the wheel lugs, and the caliper reattached; the parking brake cable needs to be tweaked in the process as well before the wheel goes back on, the jackstands come off, and the vehicle is lowered.
