How to locate and install the knock sensor on Nissan Altima?

The knock sensor is situated on the side of the engine block, opposite to which it is located on four-cylinder engines. It is found below the intake manifold at the firewall side of your engine block. On V6 engines, knock sensor(s) are mounted in between the cylinder heads in the engine valley. There is one sensor for 2007 and 2008 models while two sensors are used for 2009 and later models. If you are removing an intake manifold from a V6 model, you will need to take it out of place. Disconnect electrical connector from knock sensor. Remove knock sensor mounting bolt then remove sensor. Installation is reverse of removal. Tighten mounting bolt to 16 ft-lbs.
