How do you remove and install a steering wheel, including the airbag module and electrical connections on Nissan Altima?

To retract the steering wheel, you first need to sever the connection of the cable with the negative terminal of the battery. Subsequently, take off the side covers of the steering wheel and unscrew the airbag screws. Take off the cover of the air bag module by twisting and pull it and then detach the electrical connectors from the air bag, the lock button of each connector is to be flipped with the help of a small screw driver. Lastly, remove the second electrical connector and set the air bag module to the side. Loosen, and if required unbolt, the steering wheel retaining nut and identify the correlation of the steering wheel to the shaft, and apply a new set of reference marks, if required. Also, you need to remove the steering column by using the steering wheel puller in a way that connections of the bulb and harnesses to the air bag module and to the cruise control wire will not be damaged. For installation ensure that the front side wheels are set in a central position. If the spiral cable for the air bag has been removed or if the position of the center has been moved restore the position of the pin of the location at 12 o'clock position, and if the air conditioning spiral cable has been removed turn it clockwise until stiff, then anti-clockwise by two full turns Provided marks are aligned. Extract the electrical leads of your airbag module and the cruise control system via the steering wheel and put the wheel properly with the right engagement of the spiral cable pin. Other with the steering wheel, fix the steering wheel retainer nut and tighten it with the specified torque level. Place the air bag module back in position and tighten the bolts to the recommended torque and then put back the lids. Disconnect the battery, and then connect it back and perform the relearn processes that were earlier discussed. Last check that air bag circuit is energized now turn the key from off to On or Start, the "AIR BAG" warning light should come on for several seconds and then go off.
