Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts, then raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands before removing the wheels. Disconnect the inner ends of the lateral arms by removing the inner pivot nuts, followed by the bolts and nuts that attach the lateral arms to the knuckle, and then remove the arms. For installation, reverse the removal process, ensuring all fasteners are tightened to the specified torque, and raise the rear suspension with a floor jack to simulate normal ride height before tightening. Caution is advised to place the jack head under the trailing arm bracket rather than under the trailing arm or lateral arms. Next, remove the pivot bolt and nut from the forward end of the trailing arm, followed by the bolt and nut that attach the rear end of the arm to its bracket, and then remove the trailing arm. For installation, again reverse the removal process, using a floor jack to raise the suspension to normal ride height before tightening the fasteners to the specified torque, with the same caution regarding jack placement. Finally, install the wheels and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
