The transaxle must be removed from the vehicle for this procedure, followed by the removal of the
Flywheel/driveplate. Carefully pry out the old Crankshaft Seal from the retainer using a seal removal tool or screwdriver, taking care not to damage the crankshaft, as this could cause the new seal to leak. Apply multi-purpose grease to the crankshaft seal journal and the lip of the new Crankshaft Seal. Ideally, a seal installation tool should be used to press the new seal into place; if unavailable, a large socket, section of pipe, or a blunt tool can be used to carefully drive the new seal into position. Ensure the lip is worked onto the seal journal of the crankshaft without rushing, as this may damage the seal. Install the seal squarely and only until it is flush with the back of the seal plate, no further. The remaining steps involve reversing the removal process.
